HTC has delayed its Grip fitness wearable for a second time
“We are excited to launch this new comprehensive product suite and will share further details as we get closer to launch”.
HTC has delayed the release of its Grim fitness tracker for a second time, pushing the wearable back to early next year.
HTC, on the other hand, has assured that it will. The company has even taken to Twitter to brand the device as “the smart fitness tracker for the serious athlete”. At the time we hoped the company would still release something by the end of the year, but now it seems we’ll be waiting until at least early next year. In a report by Wareable, the company announced that the original release date of the Grip in the middle of this year was delayed, with HTC stating that “after extensive wear testing and user feedback, it has been chose to align Grip with the entire product portfolio for health and fitness launching later this year”.
This wristband, which will boast a Global Positioning System radio as well as a touchscreen display, is expected to have a $199 price tag. It uses Under Armour’s apps and accessories to track your heartbeat and pulse.
The HTC Grip features a curved 1.8-inch PMOLED display, and pairs with all Android phones running 4.3 or higher, and iPhones running iOS 7 and up.
HTC issued a statement to Phandroid, saying that “As we continue to develop the Connected Fitness platform and elevate our product offerings, Under Armour and HTC have chose to launch a fully integrated digital ecosystem of products early next year”. The wearer can also keep track of their fitness regimen and exercise.
IBTimes United Kingdom has contacted HTC, requesting the company to elaborate on the latest development.
As previously stated in an article, the HTC Grip was supposed to be the result of a collaboration between the manufacturer and Under Armour.
It has been reported that the smartphone profits and sales of HTC dropped over the previous years.
