The Voice Coaches Play “Spin the Microphone” with Jimmy Fallon
The Voice USA coaches got more than they bargained for on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show recently, after the presenter challenged them to a game of Spin the Microphone.
Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell Williams all stepped up for Spin the Microphone, which seemed for a few like host Jimmy Fallon’s personal torture device.
The game worked like the classic teen game of “Spin the Bottle”, but with a musical twist.
Players took turns spinning the mic on a board with their names and selecting cards with songs written on them.
When the mic pointed to Fallon, he had to sing the 15-year-old Britney Spears song “Oops!… I Did It Again”, but never hit a flat or sharp note, while Shelton, with amicable resignation, put a little more chutzpah into the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A”. “This is actually the stupidest game I have ever heard of”, Shelton joked after the explanation, with Fallon adding, “Thank you, Blake”. Stefani was up next and sang with Shelton for their own unique version of Drake’s “Hotline Bling“.
While Mike Tyson was butchering the lyrics to “Hotline Bling”, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were doing what could have been Drake’s first number one solo single the right way.
