Supergirl: 6 Ups And 4 Downs From The Pilot
She’s like, I’m a girl, and I’m awesome, and I’m not going to apologize for that. “He’s got a lot of fun, dramatic stuff, and he has certainly not put down his camera for the last time”. “When (she comes) through in the end, its where our male heroes would have come through in the end”.
She then encountered one of them, in the form of Vartox (Owain Yeoman), an alien bent on hurting her since she was the daughter of Alura Zor-El (Laura Benanti), who had locked them all up in the first place.
Here’s the deal with Supergirl: She was sent to Earth to watch over her cousin (aka Superman), but her ship got trapped in a time portal, delaying her arrival in the process. In episode 1, viewers are about to get their introduction to Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist), Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), and Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). In the new drama from the world of DC Comics, Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, embraces her superhuman abilities and becomes the hero she was always meant to be. Not wrong, but not necessarily right for Kara.
Everything about this show screams The CW, so much so that it’s hard to believe it isn’t actually a stablemate of Arrow and, more notably, The Flash, which it shares a lot in common with.
Normally, someone calling Melissa Benoist “hot” might be taken as a normal compliment, but when a much older Jeb Bush makes the Supergirl comment you might imagine the actress portraying Superman’s cousin may feel a bit awkward. Even the guy who plays the new James Olsen, Mehcad Brooks, wasn’t sure if CBS was ready for that kind of change. Not just a b****, but a rich, bossy b****.
If “Supergirl” succeeds, it will be interesting to see whether CBS brings in more programming aimed at younger TV viewers.
Is this show any good? .
After one episode, can anyone tell whether or not a show is worth watching? What if people gave up on Walter White, Tony Soprano, or Al Bundy after the pilot was aired? She says they do not even plan a cameo appearance, although Superman will have an effect on the Supergirl show in at least one way.
“We also really responded to the fact that it had a very broad appeal, so we felt that we could have genre fans but we also felt … it was a great workplace comedy”.
A few people might call it too teenagey or teeny bopper, but those people are not paying attention to the what really happened here.
Supergirl will need to learn to use her powers quickly as she’ll face off with a variety of villains, as producer Andrew Kreisberg points out that she’ll have her hands full this season. Kara is not Superman, Arrow, The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It’s no surprise that CBS is trying to secure a superhero TV show of its very own.
