Jeffrey Katzenberg has credited Tesla CEO Elon Musk with his survival after a vehicle accident.
The DreamWorks boss tells The Hollywood Reporter he survived a auto crash in Beverly Hills last week (19Oct15) because he was behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S.
Katzenberg had an near fatal accident on October 19.
The vehicle was “totaled”, according to the individual, adding that it was a “miracle” that Katzenberg walked away with his right wrist and arm shattered and nothing further. It was pretty bad’.
A rep for Tesla did not respond to a request for comment, nor did the Beverly Hills Police Department.
And Katzenberg and his pink cast are set to make another public appearance this week as he will be the inaugural recipient of the Sid Grauman Award at the American Cinematheque’s annual gala.
Katzenberg’s comments come just a few days after Consumer Reports panned Tesla Model S for reliability issues. and pulled down its recommendation.
In response, Musk tweeted that the problems cited by the magazine were mostly caused by issues with earlier versions of the auto, not the version now in showrooms.
He also pointed out one thing Consumer Reports itself reported: Model S owners are very happy with the vehicle, despite the need to get them fixed more than average.
