Revitalization of Chris Johnson continues as Cardinals deal Ravens another loss
Baltimore’s defense started to slow the Cardinals (5-2) a little and the offense was solid early, driving for Justin Tucker’s 44-yard field goal in the first quarter and Justin Forsett’s 14-yard touchdown run in the second. The league asked the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse the lower-court judge and reinstate the penalty that would have kept Brady out of the first four games of this season.
The Ravens had a lot of criticism towards the referees after Monday night’s game against the Cardinals. And when a one-possession game comes down to the last moments like that, it’s natural to look back at one or two plays that could have gone the other way and wonder what might have been. “Not 100 percent, but I made it through to help my brothers out”.
Arizona led 26-10 before Asa Jackson blocked a punt to set up Joe Flacco’s one-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Juszczyk.
The biggest call to go against the Ravens came late in the first half when Jeremy Ross fumbled the ball on a punt return at his own 24-yard line. Rivers has thrown two or more touchdowns in four straight games.
Baltimore (1-6) drove to the 4 in the final seconds before Tony Jefferson’s interception deep in the end zone clinched the victory for NFC West-leading Arizona (5-2).
This led to a field goal that effectively put the game out of reach. Joe Flacco is completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,857 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions.
So how did Jefferson get in such good position?
Johnson looks reborn in the Arizona attack, as evidenced by his two long runs vs. Baltimore: a 24-yard TD on which he broke two tackles and then outran everyone to the pylon and a 62-yarder that easily could have been stopped for a very short gain (Baltimore argued, unsuccessfully, that Johnson’s forward progress had been stopped-one of several debatable calls). In that situation, you’re not going to get a call.
Tomlin said he felt good about Roethlisberger’s availability against Cincinnati, but cautioned that the Steelers’ franchise quarterback still has to go through a week of practice.
“This is just where we are”. That’s why guys were open, because we didn’t ID where the eligible receivers were at.
So it went Monday night in Arizona.
And even though the 67-yard drive might have seemed to be succinct and well-orchestrated by the Ravens, Flacco told the media after the game that the drive was chaotic due to issues with their headsets.
QB Carson Palmer, with his 35-yard completion to WR John Brown in the third quarter Monday night in a 26-18 win over the Ravens, moved ahead of Donovan McNabb (37,276) for 20th place on the NFL’s all-time passing yards list.
“Everybody has that app Yelp, and you have reviews”.
They have also steered clear of blaming injuries and are dealing with a couple of more this week, with starting offensive linemen Eugene Monroe and Kelechi Osemele, wide receiver Darren Waller and cornerback Tray Walker all going down. Coach John Harbaugh said he did not immediately have a medical report on Osemele’s status.
