Whole Foods recalls salads over Listeria concern
Whole Food is recalling packaged curry chicken salad and sandwiches and classic deli pasta salad sold at their branches in seven states after testing positive from Listeria bacteria, Gothamist reports. The salads were sold in the East Coast markets, including Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Listeria was discovered after samples were tested by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health at a Whole Foods’ facility in Everett, Massachusetts during a routine inspection, according to Whole Foods.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with these products.
Symptoms reportedly include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
The products were sold as wraps, and in separate packaging.

People who believe they have consumed the tainted food should immediately contact a doctor and inform them of their exposure, particularly if they are pregnant, very young or old, or have a weakened immune system.
It’s a bacteria that can cause serious, and even fatal, infections.
Those who show flu-like symptoms within the two-month period of consuming adulterated food are advised to seek medical care and urged to inform their healthcare provider about eating contaminated food. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls. Customers with questions should call their local store or the chain’s regional office at 617-492-5500 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
