Missouri ends QB Mauk’s suspension
Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk was reinstated Sunday after serving what amounted to a four-week suspension for violating undisclosed team rules, multiple sources told the Post-Dispatch.
Mauk has rejoined team activities during MU’s bye week, but it’s unclear if he’ll play in the Tigers’ next game, November 5 against Mississippi State.
After last week’s 10-3 loss at Vanderbilt, Pinkel was asked whether personnel changes were needed on offense and he replied, “We’re looking at everything”.
“It’s really easy to throw people all over the place”, Pinkel added. Missouri is off this week, so there will be no official update from Pinkel before Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.
Mauk, who had started 18 straight games for Missouri, was 57 of 110 passes – a 51.8 completion percentage – for 654 yards with six touchdowns and four interceptions in four games. “Any experience he has is new for him”.
Mauk is 17-5 as a starter in his career at Missouri, including when he led the Tigers to the SEC East championship in 2014. Cuellar, a backup, was cleared to return after missing one game.
Freshman Drew Lock has played in Mauk’s absence, going 62 for 127 with 538 yards and two touchdowns.
Malik Cuellar, an offensive lineman, was suspended around the same time Mauk was, but was reinstated about a week later.
