Gun hoarder found with thousands of weapons
When police raided the 51-year-old’s home in Pageland, South Carolina, they found themselves surrounded by almost 10,000 guns, 500 chain saws, several crossbows, a few all-terrain vehicles, and a small herd of taxidermied elk and alligator heads.
Brooks also stated that none of officers have ever experienced anything anywhere close to this.
Deputies returned the following day and cleared the home and a warehouse on the Pageland-area property of between 7,000 and 10,000 guns.
Brooks told reporters that deputies discovered the large weapons stash when they arrived at Nicholson’s home on 23 October to serve a subpoena for an unrelated matter. Fox reported that there is no evidence yet suggesting that Nicholson was a weapons trafficker, or that he ever used them, only that he just wanted to keep adding to his collection.
Officials say along with thousands of stolen guns, police found 150 chainsaws, four-wheelers and taxidermy supplies. It took four 40-foot semi trucks to haul away all of the illegal guns and other items found at the Nicholson properties.
To their amazement, they found chainsaws and a welder left in plain sight on the front law that had been reported stolen just a few days back. Brooks said that numerous guns look like they’d been stored for years.
Over 100 law enforcement officials were on the scene on Friday and Saturday. He has been charged with possession of stolen property, Brooks said. No telling how many break-ins this will held wrap up’.
“There were so many guns we quit counting after a while”, Brooks told the Charlotte Observer.
Rusty Fender told WBTV he had lived next to Nicholson his entire life and never suspected the hoarding of weapons.
“What was you thinking?” he said. “I mean was you planning on starting a riot?”
