We need Turkey to help solve migrant crisis
Bavaria’s governor is pressing Chancellor Angela Merkel to complain to her Austrian counterpart about an uncoordinated flow of migrants toward Germany’s border. “We can and must not treat each other this way”, Seehofer said in an interview with the German newspaper Passauer Neue Presse on Tuesday. “Unfortunately, it’s much worse, it’s so bad that even Bavaria couldn’t have predicted it”. “First of all through negotiations, so Turkey will continue to cooperate with the European Union and take a part of the illegal migration flows”. However, Germany was keen to reinforce its own “excellent relations” with the mainland, said Michael Clauss, the German ambassador to China.
He said Germany and Europe needed to fundamentally change their immigration policy or “we won’t be able to do this”. “We have reached the limit of our capacity”.
A daily influx of thousands of beleaguered refugees – including many children and elderly people – has put a massive strain on the health care capacities of tiny Slovenia.
The amount each person receives also increases depending on the country they are returning to, with those going to Egypt, Ghana, Lebanon and Eritrea receiving €300, while those going back to Iraq or Afghanistan get up to €700 per person.
As long as we can’t defend Europe’s outer borders, it is not worth talking about how many people we can take in…
