Statewide burn ban lifted
After a significant amount of rain over the weekend, the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal lifted the statewide burn ban that went into affect October 16.
Burn bans in Travis, Hays and Bastrop Counties are no longer in place but officials still urge caution despite the bans being lifted.
Governor Phil Bryant signed the order Monday afternoon at the request of the Mississippi Forestry Commission. It is also important to keep a water source nearby to contain and control the fire.
Within Quincy city limits open burning is never allowed unless issued a permit by the Quincy Fire Department. Burning is not allowed during windy conditions.
The possibility of a burn ban is always under review at weekly Commissioner’s Court meetings and a ban can be enacted at anytime by the county judge, according to the release.
While outdoor burning is now being permitted, any outdoor fires must fall under Texas state regulations.
As a courtesy, property owners who plan to burn debris should notify the Hays County emergency dispatch at 512-393-7896 as well as their local fire department and their neighbors, Chamber said.
