Volunteer your time for this year’s Poppy Appeal in St Neots

Collections are being held in Bewdley, Stourport and Kidderminster as people remember the sacrifices made by service men and women both past and present while also raising money for the forces’ charity.
Cllr Shafique Choudhary and Cllr Sarah Marquis joined the poppy sellers as they launched their bid to equal last year’s fundraising total of £67,622.78 for the 2014 centenary commemoration year of the Great War (1914-1918).
Andrea Marr, of business TL Cobbold, is organising this year’s Royal British Legion-backed appeal and would like to hear from anyone who can spare a few time to help raise funds.
The group was set up by the store’s PR ambassador Julie Bate, after she experienced first-hand the work of the legion’s welfare service who visited her to help her cope with a family member who has been suffering with the onset of dementia.
The store will also be selling poppy inspired products, including jute bags and two flower bouquets, with all profits going to the Royal British Legion.
Judy Walsh, Poppy Appeal organiser, expressed: “We’d really like to say thank you to all the people who came and supported us”.
Warrington welcomed the Royal British Legion Riders to the town as part of this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal launch on Saturday 24 October.
