Donald Trump Has Apparently Been Carrying Guns Around New York City
In his closing statement, Trump said the country does not “win” anymore, but he can change that, and he pointed to his making CNBC – he claims – limit the debate to around two hours instead of three or more.
On the issue of gun control, Trump affirmed that he is a licensed gun holder who would feel quite comfy if his workers brought guns to work. “And I do carry on occasion”, Trump said, patting his hip. The billionaire real estate magnate said at the Republican debate on Wednesday that he has a firearm permit and likes to mix it up when it comes to his guns. “I respect the Mexican leaders, but their leaders are much sharper, much smarter and more cunning than our leader”.
As Evan DeFilippis and Devin Hughes point out at The Trace, the claim that shooters target gun-free zones runs contrary to another claim frequently made by gun rights advocates: that mass shootings are primarily a function of mental health and not of gun laws.
Trump then seized on gun free zones and suggested that would-be attackers literally “look around” for such zones, so as to find to victims who can not defend themselves; can not shoot back. But I feel that gun-free zones, that’s target practice for the sickos and for the mentally ill. “They’re a feeding ground for sick people”. Trump also revealed that he believes strongly enough in the idea that he’s gotten himself a gun permit and is – fully legally, he emphasized – carrying a gun around New York City.
