Pakistan, Iran vow to resolve Syria crisis through dialogue
Iran is ready to join hands with Pakistan to fight the threat posed by ISIL and other Takfiri terrorist groups, he said at a joint press conference in Islamabad with Pakistani Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, The Express Tribune reported. The two leaders reiterated their pledge to work hand in hand and to further strengthen the existing mechanisms for promoting greater cooperation in order to overcome mutual challenges including the menace of terrorism, cross-border and transnational crimes through greater intelligence information sharing and forging close cooperative equation among the security agencies of the two countries.
Matters relating to Pak-Iran bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, including border management, promotion of regional peace and regional situation was discussed during the meeting.
He said there is a lot of scope in enhancing cooperation in economic and communication areas between the two countries. “We are agreed to effectively utilise these platforms”, he added.
Pakistan and Iran enjoying close friendly relations, embedded in common history, culture and faith and the visit of Admiral Shamkhani is part of the continued high-level exchanges between two brotherly countries, he maintained.
He said this while talking to Iranian Secretary to Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Minister said a strong and strategic Pak-Iran partnership would benefit the two countries and be instrumental in realizing their full potential.
The secretary of Iran’s SNSC pointed to the Vienna agreement of July 14 and the end of anti-Iran sanctions as a threshold to a new era of developments of trade, energy, transit, and telecommunication cooperation between the neighboring countries.
He further said that the Kashmir issue should be resolved through political means as well as by the will of the people of Kashmir.
Appreciating Pakistan’s assistance in holding dialogue between Taliban representatives and Afghan government, he said success of these dialogue process will ensure peace and development in the region.
