Shah praised by Warne
“From what I have seen of this (Dubai) Test match, he has got all the toys, I just think he gets a little impatient”, the spinner added.
Despite Shah’s relatively late start in Test cricket, Warne does not feel time will prove a barrier to him.
Warne, speaking earlier in the week, compared Yasir and Rashid when speaking to the UAE newspaper the National.
Warne has in the past been a vocal critic of the England captain, Alastair Cook, through both his commentary for Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and a newspaper column, with the issue coming to a head before the Headingley Test against Sri Lanka in 2014, when Cook said “something must be done” about the leg-spinner’s relentless negativity. He is a wonderful bowler, beautiful, so we just worked on thinking who he has been having troubles with in the England side, a few tactics and plans. “I might not be that welcome down in the England camp, so I might have to try the Pakistan camp to have a bowl”, he said.
“It was a childhood wish that I could bowl with him, play with him and I was excited to have him here for me”.
“I am very happy too after getting his feedback”.
Shane Warne wants to train alongside Yasir Shah and share his expertise after labelling the Pakistani as the “best leg-spinner in global cricket”. To me he’s the best in worldwide cricket at the moment, and Rashid will hopefully get better.
“I think he can be as effective in the foreign conditions as he is here. He has got a handsome leg break”.
“He is a wonderful bowler now, although he hasn’t played a lot Test – but he has played a lot of first-class cricket”.
“The most important thing is maintaining the same run up, the same rhythm, the same approach to the crease and the same release point – the only difference is when you’re about to release the ball changing the position of your wrist”.
The 29-year-old claimed eight wickets in the second Test in Dubai on his return from injury as Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against England and Warne rates him as the best in the business.
Warne said on Thursday: ‘Just finished a net session with Shah.
“I think it will be great if Yasir and Rashid are right up there in the rankings, that would put a big smile on my face”, he said. We couldn’t communicate that well but when he was smiling afterwards I knew what he got was pretty good.
