BCCI has expressed regret over cancellation of meeting: PCB
Khan said the BCCI president has also assured to have approached his government in connection with the Pak-India series.
PCB said in an announcement that BCCI had sent a letter in which Manohar had expressed regrets for cancellation of the talks in Mumbai.
However, Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan at returning from India over the protest of Shiv Sena and the behaviour of BCCI, had written an official letter to Indian Board, in which protested regarding attitude happened with PCB officials.
The scheduled meeting between the PCB and BCCI Chief were cancelled following the storming of BCCI Headquarters by Hindu extremist group Shiv Sena activists.
Miandad said it clearly shows how strongly the Indian government influences workings of the BCCI. “Under pressure from extremist elements, BCCI cancelled its meeting”, the PCB said in a statement on Thursday.
“We are opposing Pakistanis associated with the IPL coming to India”.
PCB, meanwhile, wrote a letter to BCCI to inquire about the date and venue of the rescheduled meetings.
India’s series against Pakistan has been in a state of flux ever since the two boards signed an MoU last year to play six bilateral series in the eight-year cycle from 2015 to 2023. “There is still hope for a Pakistan-India bilateral showdown in December”, he added.
The PCB has already said that it had a backup plan in case India refused to play against Pakistan in December, but it still hopes BCCI will fulfill its commitment.
Shaharyar told reporters in Lahore on today that he was happy to see the Indian board had accepted the ground situation.
