Clippers thump Mavs, Grizzlies rally to beat Pacers
That’s fine. The Clippers, primarily Doc Rivers and Jordan, played the same make-believe game, pretending that a meeting with the Dallas Mavericks didn’t amp up the emotions any extra despite the odd summer saga of the center’s free agency. However, players like Dwight Howard, Deron Williams (now a Mav after spurning them in 2012), Paul, and Jordan have all chosen other locations.
Jordan appeared to be one happy Clippers camper as he watched the entire fourth quarter from the bench alongside his fellow starters, cheering and laughing as his teammates built leads as large as 28 points. Then again, this is Mark Cuban that we’re talking about; overreacting like this is kind of what he does at this point.
Mark Cuban swears he doesn’t “give a s*it” about the Los Angeles Clippers, while Steve Ballmer surely couldn’t care less about the Dallas Mavericks.
The Clippers will host the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center on Saturday after defeating them 111-104 in the season opener on Wednesday. But five wild days later, Jordan changed his mind and re-signed with the Clippers and infuriating the Mavericks.
“We’re one of the very few teams, I don’t know how many others, who get their home opener on a back to back”.
As disparaging as those remarks were, Cuban is right, the Clippers have not won anything in 30 years, and they’re looking to change that this season. “I’m sure, from the human standpoint, (the game) has something in it because of all the stuff that happened”, Rivers said. It’s not as much fun as picking on San Antonio, it’s not as much fun as picking on the [Houston] Rockets.
Jordan obviously didn’t approach it like just another game. He came out flying. And he hounded Dirk Nowitzki so much that late in the first half, the two men tangled under the rim amid elbows and shoves.
Pacers guard Monta Ellis has seen better nights offensively, as the career 19-point-per-game scorer finished with just 9 points on 3 of 11 shooting in the Pacers’ 112-103 loss to the Grizzlies. A smattering of the crowd ended the game by chanting, “D-J, D-J, D-J!”
The total has gone OVER in 5 of the LA Clippers last 5 games at home. Hello? For years, that was the opening song for the Laker Girls.
Without doubt, the Mavericks will love to have another chance to win the National Basketball Association title and cause a good impact in the league.
From the outset, the Mavs tried to get physical with the Clippers. “Maybe that explains it”.
