LittleBigPlanet developer explains how its new PS4 game works
It’s a visually stunning demo but also an interesting one to watch as you know that everything in the demo has been hand crafted by a player. You can search for an existing dream using specific tags, like a jungle theme made by one of your friends, then choose from the options found and continue your journey. The idea is that dreams aren’t limited, and Media Molecule promises that the bounds of your imagination will be the only barriers to creation. There are so many questions swimming around our heads about this game, full of seemingly endless possibilities, and we can’t wait to see more gameplay footage – and find out how it all actually works.
Dreams is a lovely adventure game based around puzzling your way through, and manipulating, dreams.
Alex Evans of Media Molecule says of the game, “It’s just a sandbox you can have a really good time in. The openness of it is what makes it unique”.
The game’s British developer, Media Molecule, has revealed that the game was still in its early stage of development and is now at the alpha stage. What this means is that characters or objects designed within the context of the game could someday soon be recreated in real life through 3D printing technology. If this aspect of the project does become realized it would signify a huge development for the digital arts, with Dreams, a PS4 video game, being used as a creative tool. Through exploring the various dreams, players learn the basics of the controls and how to go about using the toolset at their disposal. A beta for the game is due to take place at a few point next year, and it’s been stated that more news about the game will be announced in the coming months.
