State police confirm discovery of possible human remains in Weston
Police found the Navin’s vehicle in a commuter parking lot off the Merritt Parkway with a bullet hole.
Possible human remains have been discovered in Weston where state police have been searching for a missing Easton couple.
Sources close to the investigation tell The Hour the home at 89 Norfield Road is the vacated home of a friend of Kyle Navin, the son of Jannette and Jeffrey Navin, and the chief suspect in their disappearance.
State police have searched other areas looking for the Navins.
State court records show Jeffrey Navin was $2.2 million in debt as of December in connection with a mortgage on a Guilford home that has been in foreclosure since 2007.
Investigators said Kyle Navin worked for the family business, J&J Refuse.
In August, police released a statement from the Navin family which said the “financial issues recently reported by the media have not been proven to be a factor for our family members’ disappearance”. He is held at the Wyatt Detention Facility in Rhode Island.
According to the arrest affidavit, Jeffrey and Kyle Navin exchanged text messages the day the couple disappeared in which Jeffrey said he did not want to return home because he would be framed for murder. They arrived there around 3 p.m. He then asked his son if he hurt his mother.
Kyle Navin was arrested on September 8 by federal authorities and charged with possession of a firearm by someone who is an unlawful user of, or addicted to, any controlled substance. A judge orders him held without bail, and tentatively sets November 9 for jury selection in the case.
The remains were found during a search at a vacant home in Weston on Thursday afternoon. The search goes on through the night. The medical examiner’s office has the remains now for testing and identification.
