Comedian Ricky Gervais To Host Golden Globes For Fourth Time
Gervais will be replacing the dynamic duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, both of which also hosted the event for three years, says E Online.
Ricky Gervais has been named the host of the 2016 Golden Globe Awards, marking his fourth time as host.
But in a blog post entitled “Ricky’s back!” the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organises the Golden Globes, confirmed the news that he’ll be hosting the 2016 Golden Globes. “His off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats”.
Gervais later responded to the backlash by saying he’d told his agent never to let him present the Globes again. “Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor – and send up – the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seats belts”, Greenblatt adds.
Ricky Gervais, who has been called out several times for his half-insulting, half-hilarious jokes, will be hosting the Golden Globes once again, according to CBS News.
Gervais is commonly known for co-creating, writing, directing, and starring in the 2001 UK TV series “The Office”, which ultimately led to the successful nine season run of the USA version of the show.
The 54-year-old actor resorted to Twitter for his announcement by posting a photo with the caption, “Can’t wait to host The Golden Globes again”. He has also starred in shows like Extras, Life’s Too Short and The Ricky Gervais Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, Sesame Street, The Simpsons and Family Guy.
The comedian and movie star hosted the awards show from 2010 to 2012.
