Illinois lawmaker proposes daily fantasy sports regulations
This past month, the fantasy sports website DraftKings and its rival FanDuel are being investigated by the government for possible illegal practices, and video games are getting hit as well.

The NCAA actually recognizes that it is gambling by not allowing university athletes play in fantasy leagues.
When asked how DraftKings planned to curb this problem, Robins offered one interesting example: the company has started experimenting with internal, company-wide daily fantasy competitions. An Illinois lawmaker says he doesn’t want to ban the industry.
“We are the first state in the nation to attempt to address this”, he said.
In previous interviews with The Associated Press, Healey has said that if fantasy sports websites are allowed to continue operating in Massachusetts, they would likely have to do so under a “robust” regulatory framework.

The legislation will get a few pushback from gambling opponents.
As for punishment, if any member were breaking the law, “nothing we’re going to do is going to foreclose on law enforcement intervening, ” he said.
The state Gaming Commission tried on Thursday to figure out what the state should do, if anything, about fantasy sports sites, however the Commission has yet to come to a conclusion.

The nature and legality of daily fantasy sports operations are being debated across the country.
The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA), which has represented the industry since 1998, said it has formed the Fantasy Sports Control Agency to oversee the multibillion-dollar business. It does, however, hold four games each season in London, where sports gambling is legal.
Illinois State Representative Michael Zalewski (D-Riverside) said he wants to enact sensible regulations on an unregulated industry.
