The best horror on Netflix for Halloween
Looking for a good scare this Halloween? Not to sound completely sadistic, but these movies do have a satisfying feel to them that make them worth watching. “Self-scaring” has always been a way to unite people, giving them a sense of belonging and boosting feelings of power, says Margee Kerr, a sociologist who specialises in fear. However, this is yet another example of a series that had one too many sequels. A true horror classic. The mask had already been produced as a Halloween costume, inspired by “The Scream” painting by Edvard Munch. More than anything, the film is about young love, and there are a lot of sweet moments alongside the bloody ones. There Torrance is plagued by disturbing visions seen by his son, Danny, who has psychic abilities. King’s own opinions on the adaptation have been mixed throughout the years.
NORRIS: It’s the most insanely gory but amusing movie ever. Linda Blair’s most famous role, and anything involved with kids is scary enough. This was always a holiday I enjoyed as a little boy. This film stands out as one of the quintessential serial killer films, and the twists and turns make this an edge-of-your-seat viewing experience. This Disney film is a family favorite filled with suspense.
While at a theme park, the three singing chipmunks go into Frankenstin’s Castle and actually find the popular big green monster inside. “The Conjuring” will have you on the edge of your seat waiting – and waiting … and waiting – for things to unravel, and once they do, there’s no going back. The highlight of the film is Victor’s welcome to the afterlife called “Remains of the Day”.
Long gone are the days when we had to patiently wait for new movies to debut on network TV or premium cable movie channels.
