A screenshot from his Web site reveals Donald Trump’s true feelings about
“I was not at all critical of him”, Trump clarified.
Trump had said that by raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will compel American companies to offer high paying entry-level jobs to the domestic pool of unemployed professionals. “I never said that”. “It was the week she got exposed as a liar, but she has her Super PAC to help her out”.
Trump, though, appeared to contradict his campaign’s own published white paper on immigration with his statements on visas for skilled immigrants – the controversial H-1B program, as its known.
Given a chance to expound upon his position on immigration, Rubio took the opportunity to argue that the policy that brought his parents here should be changed to meet the realities of the 21st century. The candidate, who lost his longtime first place standing in the Washington Examiner’s power rankings to Rubio, certainly uses the sharpest rhetoric in criticizing illegal immigration. But his comments frequently don’t match the details of his supposed immigration plan. “And it says that, again, ‘Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H1-Bs that would decimate women and minorities.’ Are you in favor of H1-Bs or are you opposed to them?” Fresh off a push for more diversity in Silicon Valley hiring, he called the program harmful to American workers. And that’s the way my parents came legally in 1956. “We’ve got to have a merit-based system of immigration, where when you come here permanently, you come here on the basis of what you know, what you can do, what you’re going to invest”. They can have it any way you want. “And that’s the way my parents came legally in 1956”, he said. Illegal immigration has an unfair effect on legal immigration and the pursuit of the America dream. It makes no mention of mass deportations.
Rubio made it clear in the debate he accepts the tech industry’s unsubstantiated claim there is a shortage of Americans qualified for STEM jobs, and said the best way to address the H-1B problem is to address the so-called shortage so that businesses don’t demand access to foreign workers.
Republican Donald Trump had initially denied that he called fellow candidate Sen. You can call it work permits. Since the very beginning of his campaign, when a tossed-off line in his announcement speech about “rapists and murderers” became the thesis of his candidacy, Trump’s campaign has been about the danger of unauthorized immigrants – and the deviousness of the Mexican government in “forcing” immigrants into the United States as a deliberate plot to undermine America.
If you haven’t considered this possibility lately, you should do it now: Donald Trump might be getting really, truly serious about running for the Republican nomination and the presidency.
