Attacks on Israelis near Hebron after Palestinian killed
Over the course of last month, Israeli forces have arrested a few 1,500 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, a Palestinian NGO said Saturday.
Palestinians have been stabbing, shooting and running down random Israelis in individual acts of terror driven by fabricated claims that Israel plans to take control of the Temple Mount, revered as holy by both Jews and Muslims. Of those, 38 were assailants armed mainly with knives, Israel said. “The other half, a few were true, the others there was no way to tell since they executed Palestianians and no one asked questions”.
Since the beginning of unrest on early October 2015, 73 Palestinians have been killed and over 2,270 others injured with live ammunition or rubber-coated steel rounds used by Israeli forces in the West Bank and Gaza. The Palestinian approached soldiers at a checkpoint as clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops erupted nearby, police said.
Two Palestinians were wounded in clashes with security forces after today’s funeral, an AFP correspondent in Hebron said. With Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also serving as foreign minister, Hotovely oversees the office’s day-to-day operations.
“In the two places (villages outside Hebron) the funerals were modest and held by the family during the night”, Ya’alon said at the end of Sunday’s cabinet meeting.
The Qur’an promises the Children of Israel that they will return to the land of Israel from the four corners of the earth… so we should have greeted their return as living proof of the words of Allah and the realization of the prophecies of Muhammad.
“If not, we shall not return them and will even bury them in our territory”.
Palestinians wave their national and Islamist flags as they carry the bodies of five Palestinians.
Hundreds of Palestinians also attended the funeral of another victim of the West Bank violence, eight-month-old Ramadan Thawabteh.
Abbas’s administration, whose ties with the Netanyahu government have been strained by the deadlock in peacemaking since 2014 but which still quietly coordinates security with Israel, denied agreeing to the burial terms laid out by Yaalon. Many are young people, the product of schools that make heroes of Palestinians who kill Israelis.
“They proposed this to us and we totally rejected it, informing the Israeli side that it was the right of the Palestinian people to dignify their martyrs as they wish”, Civil Affairs Minister Hussein Al-Sheikh told Reuters. “Most were killed for allegly holding knives, though investigations showed the opposite”, he said. According to the decades’ old arrangement known as the status quo, only Muslim visitors are allowed to pray at the site holiest in Judaism and third holiest in Islam after Mecca and Medina.
“Ending the occupation and colonization of all Arab lands occupied in June 1967 and dismantling the Wall; Recognizing the fundamental rights of Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties”.
Numerous attackers who have targeted Israeli forces come from the southern West Bank city of Hebron, a stronghold of the Islamist movement Hamas.
