Obviously she doesn’t know what’s ensued in DunBroch. The Dark One is desperate to remove Excalibur from the stone and that means training Gold (Robert Carlyle) to be courageous. Even after the Dark Swan threatened Merida, the archer strongly believes that there is still a few good left in Emma.

Merida sees something that Belle does in the episode and wonders if it’s something that she could also use in the quest to save her brothers.

Merida has mentioned before that she has a darkness within her. Will we see that come out more in ensuing episodes? “Obviously all those characters in “Brave” have grown up as well”.
