LA mayor endorses Clinton _ but not through his office
Just 1-hour and 6-minutes after Eric Garcetti’s office today sent out a statement that the L.A. Mayor is backing Hillary Clinton’s 2016 White House campaign, they now say it was a mistake.
Hillary Clinton is in town for a series of Hollywood ATM visits and a trip to Jimmy Kimmel Live! to be broadcast tonight.
Among those at the event: Katie Holmes, Gloria Allred and Matthew Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse, Irving Azoff and Randall Emmett, according to attendees who were there.
She also told the gathering that the Republicans are “persistent” and it’s important for Democrats to be “vigilant and active” on key issues, such as voter rights, women’s rights, gay rights and immigration reform.
The party had a carnival theme and those that raised $10,000 got four tickets to Christina Aguliera’s concert. Deadline.com notes that past Clinton contributors Michael Kives and Darnell Strom of CAA were among the official hosts of the fundraiser.
Before heading down to Tinseltown, Clinton made a rare stop in Sacramento at the home of developer Angelo Tsakopoulos for a $2,700-per-person lunch fundraiser being hosted by his daughter Eleni Kounalakis, a former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary.
Filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele will host a fundraiser for Clinton at their home on Thursday.
Clinton will also hold a fundraising reception Thursday at the home of Cynthia Telles, the director of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute Spanish-speaking Psychosocial Clinic, and her husband, NBCUniversal executive Joe Waz.
On Friday, Kives is hosting Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook for an event at his home, with Zach Braff and Kate Hudson as co-hosts. The host committee also includes the Saban Family Foundation’s Alex De Ocampo, Democratic strategists Michael Trujillo and Bill Burton and political consultant David Wolf.
