Blizzard Shooter Overwatch PS4/Xbox One Editions Confirmed
Since Blizzard announced Overwatch for PC previous year, most of the gaming world has assumed it’s coming to consoles too. Perhaps GameStop is selling a deluxe edition of Overwatch at retail, or a few sort of special/collector’s edition. However, Blizzard does sell other free-to-play games, like Heroes of the Storm, as a physical bundle that typically includes heroes and skins – so it’s possible Overwatch may still be free-to-play.
Overwatch, the team-based FPS in the works at Blizzard may be now confirmed for PC only, and Blizzard may have a tendency of developing mostly PC-exclusive titles, but in spite of that, many in the game’s growing community are beginning to think an expansion to consoles may be in the cards.
IGN has also contacted several GameStop locations in New York and received a similar response.
Now it appears that both the parties have resolved the dispute and the Overwatch property will go over to Blizzard who will be able to freely use it for their game, which launched its closed beta last week.
We’ll likely hear official confirmation about this tomorrow at BlizzCon 2015.
Windows 10 is getting a major games push from Microsoft and Xbox, so the BlizzCon appearance made sense.
Blizzcon will undoubtedly have plenty of Overwatch announcements and news over the weekend.
