Eagles out of best 10 in Africa — Federation Internationale de Football Association Ranking
Ghana have dropped from 25th to 30th spot in the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association Ranking for the month of October, after losing to Cote d’Ivoire in the 2016 African Nations Championship qualifiers and also drawing 1-1 with Canada in an worldwide friendly match last month in the USA.
The drop, the team’s poorest since April 2014, despite defeating Cameroon 3-0 in their last worldwide outing in Belgium, means that the country is now behind Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde Island, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Congo, Guinea, Congo DR and Egypt.
Ivory Coast dethroned Algeria from their number one spot in Africa as the North African team lost seven places in the latest ranking.
The worst mover in the ranking is the team of Sudan, which dropped 44 positions to 128th place, while Chad is the best mover having climbed 39 positions to occupy the 136th place. The downward movement marks a continual drop for the national team in the last four months.
The top ten is completed by the reigning European champion Spain, which retained its sixth position, followed by Colombia, Brazil, England and Austria.
Nigeria is rated 59th in the world and 12th in Africa, after going down seven places from its previous ranking.
A total of 172 global “A” matches were taken into account in the November edition of the ranking, bringing the total number of matches evaluated so far this year to 840.
Austria also entered the top ten in the world ranking for the first time in history. Current contenders for this are Turkey (up 430 points), Chile (up 331 points), Wales (up 330 points) and Austria (up 319 points).
Tanzania played two matches during this period, a double-header against Malawi during the preliminary round of the 2018 World Cup qualifying series.
