Something is very wrong with Miami Heat’s Gerald Green
The Heat guard scored a game-high 25 points, and backcourt mate Goran Dragic added 18 as Miami took down the Minnesota Timberwolves 96-84at Target Center.
After practice before Thursday’s game in Minnesota, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said that Green “is safe and is healthy”, but declined to offer any specifics on his condition.
Green did not play in that game due to what Heat personnel described as “severe illness”, and it was quite evident the team sorely missed his presence in the second unit.
The former Slam Dunk Contest champion was brought to the hospital on Wednesday after reportedly acting erratically.
Miami HEAT statement on Gerald Green (cont’d): “Right now our concerns are with Gerald and we have no further comment at this time”. It may have been the most complete game played by the team this season, as Miami led by as many as 21 points.
“We always say we’re a family-first organization and we prove that by making sure guys are OK”, Bosh said.
We obtained the (911) call … made Wednesday morning … in which the caller tells 911, “I have a resident that just passed out”.
Wade, who dealt with migraines just two days earlier in Miami’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks, singlehandedly went on a 7-0 run to close out the first half.
The super-athletic Green signed as a free agent in July after spending the previous two seasons in Phoenix. However, Dwyane Wade put it on himself in the final seconds of the first half to push the Miami lead to double-digits.
“I mean I really don’t know what the situation is”, said Wade, a co-captain of the team.
But Green’s stellar preseason was not without incident.
“Easily got the shots I wanted, got them in sweet spots, shots you’re accustomed to seeing me make”, Towns said.
Forward Udonis Haslem, another Heat captain, said there was a sense of relief for the Heat as they worked through their morning shootaround.
“And that has to be their mindset”.
