49ers make QB change from Kaepernick to Gabbert

In his first year as San Francisco’s head coach, Jim Tomsula is now 2-6.

The San Francisco 49ers have officially made the change at quarterback from Colin Kaepernick to Blaine Gabbert.

“It’s definitely a big opportunity for me but a big opportunity for us as a secondary as a whole, just to show what we have”, Collins said.

“I’m just taking it as a chance to go out there and just prove to this team what I can do”, he said. “I watch his seriousness in the way he’s prepared every week since he’s been here and he’s a competitive guy”.

On defense, the 49ers will have to deal with Atlanta’s new look. But Tomsula stopped short of saying Gabbert would be the starter for the second half of the season.

To be honest, this is all that really matters at this point in a lost season. Colin Kaepernick will be replaced by Blaine Gabbert, a first-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2011. Facing the Falcons isn’t the ideal way to be judged.
