Brian Kelly Regrets Sideline Incident With Grimes
“I regret that it happened”, Kelly said, via USA Today.
Notre Dame was in this exact same spot previous year with a 7-1 record before falling apart to close the season.
“First of all I’m responsible for the sideline, and our sideline was not where it needed to be”, he said at his weekly press conference. Let’s use that to our advantage in the way we play. “It’s not who we are”, he said.
Last year’s team, hobbled by injuries, lost its final four regular-season games. “That should bode well as we work through the month of November”.
A season-long 10-game homestand at Melissa Cook Stadium will give fans ample time to catch the Irish on campus during late March/early April. “We still have a loss and that obviously counts but for us, it’s what is in front of us and what we have to do each and every week”. “Winning football games requires character and guys to lead”.
Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly admitted Tuesday that he regrets the sideline incident that transpired – and was subsequently shown on ABC cameras – in Saturday’s 24-20 win over Temple.
Kelly repeated what he said previously, saying the incident occurred when he was trying to control the Notre Dame sideline. If we were to get a penalty in that time of the game, it would have fell on me as being somebody that can’t control the sideline.
Grimes is former Notre Dame captain and wide receiver who began working with the program as an intern in 2011. “We know what’s in store for us playing Pitt at Pitt”.
None of the Panthers enjoyed Pitt’s 26-19 loss to North Carolina last Thursday, which knocked Pitt out of first place in the ACC Coastal Division and the national rankings.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – As has become commonplace with the University of Notre Dame softball team, one can expect to see the nation’s best teams adorning the Irish schedule from year-to-year. Against Temple, Kizer threw two interceptions in the red zone. So moving forward we’ve made a few changes to how we’re gonna do things on the sideline and how we’ll have a better sideline situation.
“I wish the situation never occurred”, Kelly continued.
Notre Dame handled its business well in 2012 – at least after almost losing to Pitt in the first week of November – not letting the BCS rankings or outside buzz seep into the foundation of that team.
“At the end of the day, execution by everybody, a heightened awareness of where we are and then a little bit more practice time”, Kelly said of the solutions.
