PC-maker Acer hits Indian smartphone market with two handsets
The smartphone has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD), as opposed to the 2GB/16GB combination of the Z630. The Acer smartphone is launched in India for Rs. 10,999.
Touted as the “perfect selfie smartphone” at the time of the launch, the Liquid Z530 packs 8-megapixel front and rear cameras. It includes 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity features.
The company also announced a strategic tie-up with Flipkart.com, under which Flipkart will exclusively sell these two smartphone models in India.
The second, Liquid Z630s will host a 5.5-inch HD IPS OGS display supported by a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The front-facing 8MP fixed-focus camera offers wide angle, and can shoot 1080p videos.
Acer India launches its latest range of two smart phone models under the Acer Liquid Z Series – the Liquid Z630s and the Liquid Z530.
Powered by a 1.3 GHz 64-bit Octa Core processor, the Acer Liquid Z630s features 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory. For those who are interested with the devices, they can obtain Acer Liquid Z530 on Flipkart while Acer Liquid Z630s will be available on November 12 through flash sale. It is packed with a 2420mAh battery. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes out of the box, while the device measures 156.3 x 77.5 x 8.9mm.
And, with right things in place like the features and battery life, the company said it is confident of making smartphones grow in its portfolio.
The new smartphones also come with a few special software features, such as key apps designed as “Float Apps” that take up only a portion of the display, allowing users can see and interact with the screen below. The plant will be operational by December 2015 and will have production capacity of over 1 lakh phones per month.
The Liquid Z630s is also equipped with AcerEXTEND which connects wirelessly to a compatible laptop or PC. On the front side also, The Z630s sports a 8 Megapixel Wide-Angle camera.
“As the demand for the smartphones increase, the investment and production capacity of the plant will also be scaled up appropriately”, Liew added. Acer India will manufacture the smartphones at its new facility in Puducherry where it has already invested $10 million (around ₹65 crore).
Innovations such as Acer BluelightShield(tm) which controls users’ exposure of blue light from the screen and DTS Studio Sound claims to give high-quality audio performance for music and movies.
