Huawei Watch Debuts in United Kingdom
Back in March 2014, the guys at Google were introducing Android Wear, the company’s new software platform for smartwatches and other wearables.
After a long wait, the Android Wear watch will be available in Western Europe.
The Huawei Watch sports a 1.4-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a 400 x 400-pixel resolution (~286 ppi pixel density), covered by Sapphire scratch and shatter proof glass. The device is also IP67 certified water resistant.
The smartwatch does not feature any cameras.
We in the United Kingdom have had to wait another few months, but the Huawei Watch is now available to purchase.
There are other models that come with different colors and bands as well, but they will cost extra.
vMail doesn’t state when it will be shipping Huawei Watch, but Wareable reports the device is available today at select Selfridges stores.
That’s one for Joe Public to decide – but, with Apple apparently struggling to shift units of its own strap-on smart screen, Huawei might need a trick or two up its proverbial sleeve to counter the trend towards lower-priced luxury in the wearable market.
On the inside, the Huawei Watch is rocking a Qualcomm processor, though we know nothing of the speed. More retailers are expected to place the gadget on their shelves by the first week of December, ahead of Christmas holidays. You can pick from range of stainless steel and black cases, as well as a choice of straps, which include black leather, stainless steel mesh, stainless steel links, and black-plated stainless steel links.
Prices start from £289 with prices rising to £599 for the more premium models.
If you want a spare Huawei Watch Charging Cradle, that’ll cost you anohter £29.
