PlayStation VR gets a promo video
Sony has released a new video running through the various specs and features of its upcoming virtual reality headset PlayStation VR (PSVR), and it’s shaping up nicely.
Sony’s PlayStation VR now has formal technical specifications, but there’s still no word on a firm launch date nor pricing.
You’ll be able to plug the whole kit into your PS4 sometime in the first half of 2016.
“And now you know, we can all get back to telling you how much fun VR is and how it could well be a game-changer”, Digital Spy said.
“In a recently-released official video, Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation VR will launch with a 5.7” organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display sat behind its lenses, offering a 1920×1080 resolution RGB image with under 18 milliseconds of latency. It will also have approx 100 degrees field of view, positional tracking with nine LEDS, a gyroscope and an accelerometer, 3D audio, HDMI and USB interfaces.
And despite VR headsets being a rather solitary experience, Sony is saying the PlayStation VR is actually social as “gameplay is output to both the VR headset and TV” allowing friends and family to see what you’re seeing.
