Bayern must adapt – Guardiola
Arsenal breathed a few life back into their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s Bayern at the Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago in Group F. Despite that minor setback, that they will win the league title already looks a foregone conclusion.
Ancelotti, who predicted a Bayern win in that game, believes it will be much harder for Arsenal to conquer Pep Guardiola’s men at the Allianz Arena this time around.
Arsenal have scored sixteen goals over those five games, conceding just three, taking them up to second in the league, prompting talk of a first Premier League title since 2004. “We need to manage a good balance between being committed and not giving fouls away”, he added. “We know what we want to do so let’s concentrate on doing it”. “I will give everything for that”, he said. “Yes, but it’s a good challenge for us to show that we have the quality to compete with them”.
We will have to adapt our defence as they will want to play their type of game. “On the night, Bayern had more possession than us. It would be a disaster if we didn’t qualify for the next phase of this important championship and hopefully we can again make a great impression (against Bayern) and creep up on the leaders”, Gabriel Paulista said.
However, Wenger has reassured the fans that Mathieu Debuchy is ready to fill the void left by the absence of the Spanish right-back.
The Arsenal coach praised the form displayed by Mesut Ozil this season and feels he is about to hit his peak. Bayern’s approach to the Champions League has always been very strong, but there might be more assertiveness from the players after coming up empty.
Arsenal could be in a perilous position in their group should they contrive to lose tonight, a situation which could be said to be of their own making.
Nacho Monreal of Arsenal plays the ball during training on Tuesday ahead of their Wednesday fixture in the Champions League in Munich. “They play long balls to Giroud”.
“We will certainly have a few uncomfortable moments during the game tomorrow night but that will be a good opportunity to show our togetherness”.
Wednesday could prove to be an entertaining evening as Guardiola, too, will not be looking to simply settle for a share of the spoils.
