Farting Sheep Force Plane To Make Emergency Landing
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has confirmed reports that a freighter plane had to be diverted to Bali en route from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur on Oct 26, but said that there was no evidence that animal flatulence was the cause.
The plane was carrying four crew members and a cargo of 2186 sheep.
The world of aviation has not exactly been without mysterious incident in the past 18 months.
The airport announced on September 24 this year it received accreditation for worldwide freight. But when emergency personnel inspected the aircraft, they “did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke”.
Investigators determined that plane exhaust gasses along with the sheep manure and farts set off smoke detectors in the cargo hold.
When they checked the issue in Bali Denpasar 45 minutes later, they found no smoke, according to Aviation Herald.
“That is an assumption being made by media, which we are unable to confirm”, the SIA spokesperson told TODAY.
Australian sheep worker John Gee said having flown several places in close quarters with a few not-so-nice smelling humans, the smell of those sheep would be more tolerable than another person reeking of garlic and body odour in the next seat.
