Harry Giles Commits To Duke
“So I felt like family was at Duke and I just felt comfortable there”, said Giles, according to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv.
Giles, who had a final list of Duke, Kansas University, Wake Forest and Kentucky, made the announcement on ESPN.
Harry Giles has already suffered a high school player’s fair share of poor injury luck, but the No. 1 2016 recruit and Oak Hill Academy star suffered yet another setback on Tuesday. Giles is a phsyically gifted beast at 6’10.
Giles had a strong summer campaign on the AAU circuit, as he was named MVP of the NIKE EYBL.
Giles won’t play at Oak Hill though. Early in his debut, he was fouled going to the rim and he partially tore his ACL.
Giles is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, who is considered the top recruit in the nation. He’ll join a long line of talented big men to play for the Blue Devils.
Harry Giles is the No. 1 recruit in the land this year.
This is also a convenient move for Harry Giles because of the fact that he is going to be rehabbing his injury at the Duke medical center.
6-foot-10 power forward Harry Giles is out for the year after tearing his right ACL in his team’s season opener on Wednesday. Giles was one of four high school players on the team (along with Tatum, Josh Jackson and Terrence Ferguson) and might have been coach Sean Miller’s best player at both ends of the floor on the way to another gold medal. They have shown that they have a knack for attracting top-tier candidates.
He averaged 14 points and 10.6 rebounds in the tournament and won physical battles in the lane against older opponents playing prototypically rough international-ball defense.
