Alex Gordon declines 2016 player option, now a free agent
While Los Angeles won three straight NL West titles, it has not reached the World Series since winning the 1988 championship.
It’s been a season of highs for die-hard Kansas City Royals fan Brian Fragel.
It’s always darkest before the dawn, though, right?
Baseball players are no different, except they have the ability to make millions upon millions more if they move to another city for a few years of their life. If seeing the Royals pose for a championship photo on New York’s own field and logo isn’t enough motivation, the Mets will open the 2016 season in of all places, Kansas City, on April 4 and 6, when they might witness the Royals receiving the type of World Series rings that the Mets probably should have called their own.
For KC, it’s a no-brainer who receives this award.
Gordon has spent every second of his professional baseball life, all 318,643,200 of them, as a Royal.
New York Mets reliever Jon Niese also seemed to get a more favorable strike zone than Johnny Cueto, despite allowing three runs in the eighth inning by allowing a single and two doubles before getting relieved by Addison Reed.
Rookie of the Postseason- While Raul Mondesi was the only true rookie on the Royals’ postseason roster, this applies more to first-time contributors.

When the dust had settled, the Royals had outlasted Matt Harvey and the New York Mets to bring home the trophy.
So when the playoff team that you’re pulling for falls, what next? The scoreboard in this World Series may show a loss for the Mets, but it rekindled the flame that fans have been waiting for since 1986 and one that will keep burning for years to come.
It’s hard to argue when the Mets feature a rotation of young, hard-throwing pitchers who are just beginning their Major League careers.
Besides, the avid outdoorsman said, “I’m more of a lame deer than a lame duck”. Bye, Kansas City, here’s a pat on the head and a lolly, hope you had fun in the spotlight, now be a dear and go back to being the quiet flyover city. “Just unbelievable”, first baseman Eric Hosmer said.
There was no question that Davis and Escobar will be part of the 2016 team.
Gordon batted.271/.377/.432 with 13 homers an 48 RBIs in 104 games this season due to a left groin strain occurring when he was chasing down a deep fly ball in July. The Mets may lose Cespedes and/or Murphy before next season, but the team will look to build around its pitching staff and return to the World Series as soon as possible. That’s why the Royals were able to succeed and, ultimately, capture a championship that was long overdue.
