Salman Khan says there is no political agenda in Ghulam Ali issue
Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali has called off all his planned concerts in India, declaring he won’t go India until ‘things are settled down’.
Following Ghulam Ali’s concerts getting canceled in India, a debate ensued in the country in which artists and influential people spoke out, stating that politics should be kept out of art. But after speaking to a news channel, Ali confirmed that he will not make an appearance at any concert in India, till the time the political conflict around his presence in the country calms down.
The right-wing organisation demanded that Ghulam Ali be stopped from performing in India which, the outfit said, had no interest in promoting cultural ties with Pakistan.
This comes a month after his event in Mumbai was cancelled after he received threats from Shiv Sena.
Earlier, Randheer Ranjan Roy, business head and founder of Panache Media, which was at the helm of Khan’s Mumbai concert, had told The Indian Express that Ghulam Ali is not willing to perform. “I don’t think that there is a political agenda”. He has many fans in India but he will visit when the atmosphere is right.
Later, Ghulam Ali, in an interview to NDTV, said that he was not angry, but very hurt. We don’t want to get involved in any kind of politics.
After the incident, Delhi Government had invited the singer to perform in the national capital.
The singer was also expected to perform in another concert in Delhi in December also but that too now looks doubtful. However, the Delhi government had said that it would ensure that the concert takes place with additional security. The government gave him visa, he came here.
