Sailors rescue puppy lost at sea

Later that day, the yacht club learned that a family had reported losing the dog off the ferry from Ischia, an island off the Neapolitan coast.

We love a good rescue story, and this one is no exception!

Video captured the puppy, Noodles, slowly paddling toward the sailors before they pulled it onto their yacht.

Mr Meglio said he alerted the ferry’s crew but they did not stop, assuming the puppy had already drowned. This boatload of sailors made sure that tiny swimmer was going to get to dry land! Sailor Massimiliano Cappa described the rescue of the puppy: “We approached, we were sailing and maneuvering was not easy”.

“He was visibly exhausted, his legs nearly paralysed by the cold”.

The sailors took turns holding the puppy wrapped in a towel. “He trembled and wept”.

The club later shared an update in a separate post to let anxious Facebook users know that Noodles is happy, safe and has been reunited with his owner.

Noodle was brought to shore and warmed with a hair dryer. The ferry had continued on to its destination as the dog swam around hopelessly.
