Jorginho’s agent says Napoli will sell if Arsenal stump up “irrefutable offer”
There is speculation that Arsene Wenger could look to bolster his squad in January and Jorginho is one of the players who is on his shortlist of candidates he wants to pursue.
Speaking to Radio Crc, Santos said, “I don’t know if the Arsenal scouts were in Genoa for Jorginho”. The priority is getting a call up to the Italy national team, then there’s the January transfer market.
“I’m not surprised that the player, especially in light of the change in coach, is doing well now and has important clubs interested in him”, Italian publication Tuttomercato quote him as saying.
“One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at [Stadio Luigi Ferraris] for the Napoli match”.
“If Napoli receive an offer for Jorginho in January, it is natural that we will study it”.
The representative of the 23 year old Napoli midfielders admits a move to Arsenal would be taken under serious consideration if the Premier League club made a bid in January.
Jorginho has created 13 chances this season.
Of course, Napoli would much rather keep Jorginho, but his agent has been continuously agitating for a new contract in the media lately in a matter that suggests he’d actually rather move his client than keep him in Naples. Sarri’s troops have accumulated a healthy 22 points from 11 games and haven’t lost since their opening-day defeat to Sassulo, a game which Jorginho coincidentally missed out on.
The Frenchman is now suffering with a mini injury crisis in north London, with the absences of players such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having limited his central options.
According to reports in Spain which have been picked up by the Metro, Sanchez has no interest in leaving Arsenal and is keen to sign a new contract – as long as a couple of caveats are attached.
