According to available information, the mafia don – declared a wanted man by Interpol since 1995 – arrived by flight from Sydney, Australia, to Bali on Sunday afternoon and was arrested. Rajan wants to go to Zimbabwe instead, it said. “This is an arrest of a person with Red Corner Notice for which a whole different protocol operates”, India’s Ambassador to Indonesia Gurjit Singh said.
“It (the arrest) is very, very important because after Dawood’s gang, his was the second most notorious and cruel gang”, former Mumbai police chief P.S Pasricha told an Indian TV station.
Interpol’s website states that Nikalje was born in Mumbai and was wanted for multiple charges including control and use of illegal firearms and murder etc.
