Heat guard Gerald Green hospitalized, reasons unclear
The Heat release a short statement on Green’s condition.
Green (illness) was admitted to a hospital Wednesday morning. Police were called and arrived on scene at 10:46 a.m. after Miami Fire and Rescue requested assistant due to a “combative patient” at the condo.
According to witnesses who spoke to TMZ, Green was “screaming at the top of his lungs” and causing a disturbance.
Green is averageing 10.3 points per game in 21.5 minutes per game.
Gerald Green of the Miami Heat was hospitalized Wednesday for unknown reasons, and did not accompany the team to Minnesota for its game there Thursday. TMZ reports that it took several people to restrain Green after a huge commotion.
Though subsequent rumors swirled on social media about a potential arrest, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald learned that Green was never detained by local authorities.
Green, 29, was not arrested, according to the city of Miami police department. But in the preseason, the National Basketball Association fined him $25,000 for making “menacing gestures in an exhibition game”. “The league has a very clear stance on it. So he accepts it and we go from there”, commented Heat coach Erik Spoelstra of the sanctions given to Green.
