Hillary Clinton Tells Jimmy Kimmel She Will Watch Donald Trump On ‘SNL’
Following appearances on top late-night talk shows at major networks, such as The Tonight Show on NBC and the Late Show on CBS, Clinton’s comments on Kimmel’s ABC program ignited a flourish of commentary on social media.
As part of her expanding criminal justice platform, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is proposing to retroactively reduce mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug offenses, a Clinton aide said Friday.
“I’m really happy to meet you”, she told the kids. Sanders defended his vote in favor of allowing guns on Amtrak trains by saying it’s an extension of the rules on airplanes and challenging Maddow’s claim that he voted against the Brady Bill five times, since those votes were all related.
“No”, Clinton replied. “That was not in her mind”. Clinton said that in 1996 DOMA was “a defensive action” to forestall a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited gay marriage outright, a claim which has been disputed.
Even as a longtime member of Congress, Sanders is still largely unknown compared to the former first lady and secretary of state. “I don’t think the answer to this problem is to declare that all Republicans are our enemies”, he said.
Candidates, he said, needed to bring white working class people back into the Democratic party, and convince them that their enemies are not gay people, not immigrants – but rather the billionaire class. She declined, though, to say whether she supported the death penalty in the case of Dylann Roof, who killed nine African Americans in a racially motivated shooting in a South Carolina church in June.
“If you go to a store and you have to buy something, I want it to be free”, said one of the boys.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow interviews Martin O’Malley.
The audience cheered. If you can, catch her head nod at the end of this clip below.
O’Malley, who has been stuck in single digits in the polls, joined Sanders in attacking Clinton for her hesitance in opposing the Keystone XL pipeline.
So now that you think a female president can get you free toys and a lifetime of no school you’re into the idea, huh?? She even out-hawked Robert Gates, the Pentagon chief first appointed by George W. Bush who was less than enthusiastic about going to war in Libya. “It should always be the last choice, not the first”, she said. “I can’t walk down a hallway in the nation’s capital without people begging me to beat up on Hillary Clinton”.
“Maybe they should put a number on the side of the bus that people could call”, Clinton suggested.
If these focus groups proved one thing, it is that women – including Democrats who support her – view Clinton as an insider.
