‘Force Awakens’ screened for terminally ill ‘Star Wars’ fan
New posters and cardboard standees!
CNN reports that Fleetwood had been told in July that he had two months to live. Soon, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, and Peter Mayhew had joined the cause.
Although the world premiere of the new, seventh part of the mega-popular Star Wars saga, “The Force Awakens”, is set for December 18, Daniel watched the film on November 5, his supportive wife said on social media. Sure enough, the hashtag caught the interest of the right people and Daniel’s wish was granted by Disney, with J.J. Abrams calling him personally to let him know he’ll be watching a special screening of an unedited Episode VII. Todays release of the worldwide trailer is a ideal example of this; rather than being an edit of the footage we have already seen, Lucasfilm have cut together a plethora of never before seen footage into the new trailer… Lastly I want to thank ALL the unbelievable people who helped make this happen!!! “May the force be with you all”, Ashley said.
This is not the first time Abrams has allowed a fan who is terminally ill an early viewing of one of his films.
The video appeared on Walt Disney Japan’s YouTube channel on Friday – and though filmed in English, it features subtitles for worldwide viewers. He has talked previously about his health issues and why he is so devoted to Star Wars. This one is cooler than most.
“The Houston native is clearly beating that estimate, but he was still anxious he wouldn’t live to see the theatrical release of the newest Star Wars movie, so he started a “#ForceForDaniel” Twitter campaign. That Kylo Ren scene with Rey, for example, probably means we’ll get them to fight around a lot, or will he be her “Master’?”
Speaking of Han Solo, a few months back, Marvel’s (in-canon) Star Wars comic series introduced Sana Solo, the supposed wife of everyone’s favorite roguish space smuggler.
Luke Skywalker is still MIA, and there’s a whole faction of “Star Wars” fans hypothesizing this means Luke has turned to the Dark Side. No. No more speculating, really.
“It was like bringing a kid to see his favorite movie at the movie theaters”. Are you looking forward to that Kylo Ren/Rey faceoff?
