While she was being booked, Chambers told jail staff that she had a history of suicidal attempts and treatment for mental health issues and admitted feeling suicidal at the time of the crash, according to a probable cause affidavit signed by Stillwater police officer Kurt Merrill.
Payne County District Attorney Laura Thomas announced Tuesday she established the hotline after having problems locating contact information for people who were affected by the crash.
On October 24, Chambers avoided a barricade and proceeded to plow her vehicle through the crowd as OSU’S homecoming parade finished. Jesus died for me.’ I asked what she meant by that and she replied “I guess it’s in and of itself.’ Ms. Chambers suggested that she was now ‘talking to Jesus” and suggested that I was Jesus. The district attorney filed a motion on Wednesday afternoon for a gag order, saying that speculation about Chambers’ mental state or other facts could taint the potential jury pool and result in a defense request for a change of venue.
He wrote that Chambers told him the year was 2016, but that she was aware she was in a detention center.
Roberson says Chambers did say that she was very sleepy but said, “I didn’t want to go away”.
Roberson reported that Chambers was able to tell him that she was from Oologah, denied that she had moved from there, before another odd exchange. Shortly thereafter she began crying hysterically, stating “I miss Jesus”, the report stated. “I tried, but not very well'”.
Roberson says that he is concerned that she could either harm herself or others if she is released without treatment.
