Mariota ruled out for Sunday’s game against Texans

The Titans (1-6) had three turnovers and haven’t won since beating Tampa Bay in the opener. Watt was responsible for a forced fumble and recovery in addition to two sacks and several more quarterback hits and pressures. Novak also kicked his second extra point of the game after Nate Washington’s touchdown in the third quarter. After a 14-yard run by Fitzpatrick on fourth down, tight end Ryan Griffin got the scoring started with an eight-yard touchdown catch. Zach Mettenberger has actually been pretty solid in the past against the Texans but the defense (on paper) should have the edge. Perhaps even more egregious than the lack of production from the offensive line is the teams failed usage of Dorial Green-Beckham, who is one of the most talented wide receivers in all of the NFL.

Antonio Andrews made a big case to be the number one running back in the Ken Whisenhunt offense by carrying the ball 16 times for 64 yards.

The Titans managed to close the gap temporarily in the third quarter.

We like talking about the opportunity to win a struggling AFC South. But at a few point the Texans have to start beating the good teams if they are going to truly take advantage of the situation.

Bishop Sankey fumbled the ensuing kickoff handing the Texans the ball on the Titans 24.

Jadeveon Clowney left the game with a back injury and went to the locker room. Hopefully, he comes back the next week and can continue his progression uninterupted. I know everyone’s response to today is to fire Whisenhunt, and that is not only fair but it is the clear-cut right move at this point.
