Willian ‘confidence returning’ for chelsea
Jose Mourinho described the backing he received from Chelsea fans as “amazing” after the Champions League win against Dynamo Kiev.
Chelsea, which is now ranked 15 on the English Premier league, has only managed one win in 6 weeks since their away-win at Walsall and this has sparked a lot of ridicule on social media.
The manager continued, “We knew with a draw that if we win the next two matches we would qualify in second. From a mental point of view it was important to have a reaction to a negative moment”.
“I was impressed when I saw Liverpool at Anfield, when we beat them 4-1 [in October 2005] and, in the last 10 minutes, Anfield was singing for that team”, added Mourinho.
The Greek side’s 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb, achieved via a 90th-minute victor, means that qualification is out of Arsenal’s hands and they are in danger of failing to reach the knockout stages for the first time in 13 seasons.
“I don’t have another way to thank them than by giving everything I have, which I have always, which I will do always”.
Arjen Robben’s first-time finish and a Muller breakaway strike came either side of Olivier Giroud’s volley. But mentally, considering what people read and listen to, I don’t know how to thank them.
‘I brought great moments for the club and have they a great memory. And, probably, they want to say: ‘All of you, let him work.
“I don’t think the criticism has much effect on the players because the manager tells us what to do and everyone believes in the manager and we are doing what he tells us”. “I can look back and see she is there”.
“It is a fantastic feeling”.
The club and a host of his players have denied the rumours and backed the coach, however, while fans showed their support during Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Kiev.
“Obviously I prefer the team’s performance, but what they [the fans] did for me is not normal”, he told BT Sport after the match.
