Rubio ties Bush for most Senate endorsements
Colorado Democrats countered that Gardner will struggle to “name a single legislative accomplishment to justify his endorsement of fellow Tea Party Sen”. Cory Gardner of Colorado. While Bush has only announced two endorsements in the last month from members of Congress, Rubio has rolled out seven, more than every other Republican candidate combined.
The timing is no coincidence, of course. Rubio’s expecting a bump in the polls this week (for good reason) thanks to the last debate and wants to build perceptions of momentum.
US senators running for president often miss a lot of Senate votes. He went on to defeat incumbent Democrat Mark Udall, energizing Republicans across the nation. The director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute Patrick Murray remarked on Rubio’s rise, “Marco Rubio’s standout performance in the last debate seems to have paid dividends in a contest that was supposed to be dominated by his former mentor, Jeb Bush”. Steve Daines of Montana offered his formal backing, declaring that Rubio “represents the next generation of conservative leadership”.
FROM A LITTLE BIRD: Expect more conservatives to endorse Marco this week.
Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) – Republican U.S. Sen.
Note the plural. One obvious candidate to back Rubio is Tom Cotton, another 2014 victor who shares Rubio’s interventionist views on foreign policy. That’d be a big get.
Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Florida) surge in polls has gone hand in hand with increasing strength in a key metric that serves as one of the best predictors of electoral success.
In a Rubio campaign press release, Risch said, “Having worked with Senator Rubio since his early days in the Senate, I have been greatly impressed with his understanding and quick grasp of the serious issues that arise here”. Or maybe they’re anxious, given the competition from Bush and Cruz, that a few of these people could change their minds on an endorsement if the campaign asks them to wait. In the latest Investor’s Business Daily/TPP survey (Oct. 24-29), he was at 11 percent, unchanged from the same poll taken at the end of September. If you’re Rubio, maybe you think you need to lock these endorsements in by publicizing them as soon as you have their commitment.
