Colin Kaepernick: Kaepernick says he is ‘not out of breath’
It’s a case of letting Kaepernick clear his head and start to build a case for the potential to part ways with Kaepernick. Coach Tomsula was quoted as saying the quarterback needed a break.
It’s unclear where Kaepernick will be next season, but it seems nearly certain that he is on his way out the door in San Francisco. 49ers fullback Bruce Miller said, “Confident player, determined, good leader in the huddle, and a good commander when he’s under center and calling the plays and making things happen”. He has been preparing as normal for the 49ers game against the Falcons. That is how much Kaepernick has struggled this year, that Gabbert is viewed as an upgrade.
“I think pressure is what you apply on yourself”, said Gabbert, whose role had been limited nearly exclusively to the scout team this season. “I’ll support my teammates; I’ll support Blaine because they’ve been good to me”.
Running backs Pierre Thomas and Shaun Draughn also were brought in because Carlos Hyde (foot), Reggie Bush (torn MCL) and Mike Davis (broken hand) are sidelined.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin is inactive for the second week in a row.
“This is a guy I care about a lot and respect a lot”. He’s still grinding it out and willing to do whatever to help the team win. “Going into Atlanta, Blaine Gabbert will be our quarterback”.
“That position gets way more credit than it should when you win and it gets way more junk than it should when you lose”, he said. “To me, I played full seasons, I’ve played full seasons and been successful”. It’s something that mentally, I’ve been through before. “We’re evaluating everyone. I’m not going to have any further comment, I’m just telling you we’re evaluating everyone”.
Kaepernick doesn’t see it that way.
The supporting cast around Kaepernick is not the same as it was when the 49ers went to the Super Bowl three seasons ago.
“It was a tough decision”, Tomsula said, via ESPN.com.
“From what I’ve seen here, a guy who is very confident in the offense”.
Unfortunately, the 49ers have not scored a touchdown in two weeks, as the Seattle Seahawks held them to a field goal in week seven, and the St. Louis Rams held them to two field goals in week eight. The 49ers have had other problems on offense – they haven’t committed a turnover in four games but totaled only 331 yards and nine points in consecutive lopsided losses. But the 49ers will take any encouraging sign that their offense finally might come to life.
A matchup with San Francisco sets up as a get-well game for Atlanta.
Tomsula hopes time away from playing can be beneficial to Kaepernick.
In short, he targets on one guy early on, and it’s hard for him to look anywhere else during the short number of seconds he has to avoid a sack.
“When we got Blaine on board here, there were a few similarities to what we felt Alex Smith went through”, Chryst explained. We have a lot of young players.
