Baby dies in West Bank after inhaling teargas, says Palestinian ministry
Knife-wielding Palestinians attacked Israelis in Jerusalem and the Israeli-occupied West Bank and one of assailants was shot dead, police said.
The number does not include two elderly Palestinians who died after long delays at Israeli military checkpoints, a Palestinian prisoner who died while under Israeli custody, and a Palestinian man died after a heart attack shortly after his family said he was beaten by Israeli soldiers.
On Friday, two Palestinians used a motorcycle to reach an Israeli paramilitary police checkpoint at a junction near a Jewish settlement outside Nablus, dismounted and rushed at the troopers with knives drawn, a police spokeswoman said.
Seperately on Friday, an eight-month-old Palestinian boy died after being exposed to tear gas fired by the Israeli army near his West Bank home, a spokesperson for the Palestinian health ministry told AFP.
As a result of the quickness-to-fire, survey responses show that 66 percent of Palestinian citizens of Israel feel “a high degree of insecurity”, fearing an Israeli could mistake them for an attempted attacker and shoot and kill them.
Palestinians have been upset with Israeli settlers and drama surrounding the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which is the third holiest site for Muslims and also an important Jewish monument.
Israeli border police have chased down and beaten a group of humanitarian workers and journalists covering West Bank protests, according to reports Friday. The dead attacker was identified by Palestinian medics as 18-year-old Mahmoud Sabaaneh.
The city has seen frequent clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians protesting against the occupation. Forty of the Palestinians killed were said by Israel to have been involved in attacks or attempted attacks.
In Gaza, 46 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces during demonstrations in the Gaza strip, including 17 by live fire.
This was just one incident in a continued spate of violence that has so far in October claimed the lives of 67 Palestinians and at least nine Israelis.

The draft also calls on the parties to refrain from “referring a situation concerning Israel or the occupied Palestinian territories to the global Criminal Court”. Thousands of Palestinian mourners gathered for the funerals of the five teenagers, including two girls, in Hebron, a powder-keg in the decades-old Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
“Taking into account the psychological state of the accused and her previous suicide attempts, it has been established that she tried to commit suicide again…by pretending to want to carry out an attack to get security forces to shoot at her”, the Justice Ministry said.
In this context, the Prosecutor stated that her Office will also examine whether any of the newly reported incidents of violence constitute crimes falling within the jurisdiction of the ICC, and for the same objective, will continue to record any new instances of violence or incitement to violence that may occur in the future.
